Giddy Up and Go Try It Badge
Brownies will receive a “hands on” tour of our ranch. They will learn about the basic daily operations of our ranch, including the care and feeding of the horses. The girls will learn what tack is, arenas, round pens, cross ties, wash racks, and much more. They will also receive an introduction to basic riding, learning skills such as walking. stopping, backing, turning, and some jogging with the help of one of our riding instructors.

- We will explain how you feed a horse and what they eat.
- They will learn how to properly feed a horse a carrot or treat.
- A riding instructor will demonstrate the correct way to mount and dismount a horse. They will be able to feel how a horse moves, when they ride.
- They will learn what to wear while riding a horse and how it can keep them safe.
- We will teach them how to groom a horse or pony. They will get to experience how a horse's coat feels.
- We will explain how to "tack up" a horse or pony and describe the different parts of a saddle. We will show both a Western and an English Saddle and the different saddle pads that are used.
