Show Team Policies
HORSE SHOWS
We encourage all students who wish to show, to purchase their own show clothing, tack, supplies, etc. We realize
that this is not always possible, so Malinda has a set amount of items available for rent.
Items such as Saddles, Bridles, Bits, and Clothing will be available on a first come first served basis. We ask that if
you want to rent an item(s), please arrange it with Malinda two weeks prior to the show.
All horses are to be bathed and clipped the day/night before the show. If you are unable to prepare your
horse for the show, you can pay a $20 fee for a bath and show clip. Please arrange with Malinda ahead of time if
you need this service. If it is determined that your horse needs a full body clip, this will be billed to you at the current published rate.
You must have all of your cleaned tack and equipment ready the night before the show.
RATED HORSE SHOW EXPENSES
Some shows require horses to be braided. ALL RATED shows require mane and tail (Approximately
$125 plus $10 travel fee paid to the Braider). NON-RATED shows may require the mane only (Approximately
$55), but tail braiding adds to the elegance of the horse, so you may want to do both. Braiders are paid directly on
the day of the braiding.
Set up fee - this is a charge paid to Equine Unlimited, Inc. for set up, which includes set up of the show
tent, use of plants, sod, furniture, bark, buckets, leg wraps, shampoo, alcohol, grooming stall, and supplies, etc.
No set up fee for 1 day shows.
Grooms are paid (approximately $60-70 per day per horse) at the end of the show. Tips are appreciated.
Rail Fee - the fee for warm up before the event with Malinda or an Assistant and Malinda or an
Assistant at the rail during your ride in the class. Rail Fee applies to schooling and show days.
Trainer per diem, wear & tear, supplements, etc. will vary per show and fees will be billed accordingly.
THE SHOW
Parents, please sign your child up as soon as you arrive at the show. Choose the classes and get their
number. You will leave a blank check with your entry. Many shows require advanced entry so please pay attention
to entry deadlines. It is important that you close out your entry at the end of the show.
There usually is a snack bar, but you can always bring food and be sure to have water, Gatorade or other
electrolytes, especially in hot weather. Hydration is very important.
You may want to wear your show clothes under sweats, so you can tend to your horse and stay clean until your
class.
SHOW ETIQUETTE
Jumping classes have priority over flat classes. DO NOT JUMP YOUR HORSE IN WARM UP OR
GO INTO THE CLASS WITHOUT MALINDA. Do not let the back gate push you to go into the arena if
Malinda is not there.
Your horse comes FIRST! Always make sure he/she has plenty of water and is taken back to the trailer or stall and
unsaddled if you have time between classes.
Be professional. Do Not bring cell phones into the arena. Regardless of how you place, don’t take it out on your horse, trainer, parents or friends. Remember, you are a representative of your team and the barn.
Regardless of how you place, don’t take it out on your horse, trainer, parents or friends. Remember to HAVE FUN and support each other.
Have a GREAT show season!!
